Here's a young buck and a doe that were out back this morning. I see deer most every day and it's fun to watch them. We also see lots of wild turkeys and many other critters!

The chickens
When we bought our place about 10 years ago the place was a mess! Most of the doors and windows were missing from the old farm house and the grass was about waist deep! Ticks were everywhere! Coming from the *big city* we didn't know much about these little critters. I asked around and everyone told me to get some chickens cuz they would eat up all the ticks. Well....we've always had chickens since then. At one point we had over 100 of them but now we just have maybe 15 or so. We get plenty of eggs to eat and have not ticks around the house. Plus chickens are very simple to keep. I enjoy watching them foraging around the yard all the time. Guess we'll probably have a few chickens around!
Look what I found!

Freckles
This is Freckles....Nick's first dog. We got Freckles when Nick was about 6 or 7 and he's been a wonderful friend and companion for all of us for many years. He was a *rescue dog* and nearly died in the first few days that we had him. A few months ago we had to put him down and it was a sad day for all of us. We gave him a nice burial back in the corner of the garden. He will be missed!

Fundraisers
It seems like there is always a fundraiser going on here for one thing or another and we almost always participate in them. The cheerleaders at the school had one recently and it was for Glamor Shots. Becci went and got all the pictures done and I guess some of them turned out great. Turns out that you only get one picture for the price of the fundraiser and THEY pick out which one it is. Then, if you want any others....the packages start at $150.00! Well....when she got home I took a few pics myself and even tho they aren't the quality of the photographers....they were free! Isn't she gorgeous?
The Lake

This is our lake. It's the biggest reason that we bought this property. We moved here from Phx. AZ. and there is NO water there! This is our very own lake on our land. It's spring fed so it always stays full and it's also full of fish. My wife Becci just LOVES to fish and she's back at the lake every chance she gets. I like to fish once in a while but not like she does. Most of the time I just watch her fish and enjoy the scenery and the peace and quiet sounds of nature.

4th of July!
Yep! It's independence day and that makes me think about freedom. As I was sitting on the front porch this weekend I was thinking about this and it occured to me that I'm 59 years old now and that means that in just 3 years I will be able to collect social security! Just doesn't seem like I'm that old yet! LOL I'm pretty sure I don't *act* my age anyway! The weekend was nice and we had good weather. I got some bushhogging done and some mowing and some work in the garden. Also grilled up some good food. This is my cat Rascal. Looks like she got tired just watching me!
